Goal Based Outcomes - Next Step Cards
Next Step is a card based resource that was originally designed for use with children and young people. However it can be a really useful resource for adults too. It is used widely in the NHS, CAMHS and the education sector.

It is based on a 52 card set aimed at helping you to look at all of the areas in your life and identify what you feel okay or happy with and what you may want to change. Each card depicts a specific mood, thought, action or goal.

The process involves setting clear goals and identifying specific steps to reach the target, with reviews each session as to how you feel things have gone. There is a lot of discussion and exploration to help you work purposefully towards your own defined goal(s) and support for you to do this.

This is a solution focused way of working within a therapy session. The person-centred model that I outline under About Me:My approach underpins the use of these cards so you can feel safe to holistically explore the people, places and things in your life without judgement.

This way of working can be beneficial if you are feeling confused or unsure about where to start with the aspects of your life that are more challenging for you right now.

If you'd like to know any more about working in this way, I'd love to hear from you. There is never any obligation for you to move forward with this, but do get in touch so we can chat about how the Next Step resource might be useful to you.
